A White Tower for Mulegns

On Tuesday, 22 June 2021, the “White Tower” of Mulegns was presented in the presence of the Swiss President Guy Parmelin. The globally unique digital project is being created in close collaboration with ETH Zurich.

The “White Tower” of Mulegns is a completely digitally printed building that offers space for art installations, radio play tours and theater performances. The bold richness of form of the tower is reminiscent of the great craftsmanship of the Graubünden master builders and plasterers of the baroque era and tells of the far-traveled confectioners who served half of Europe with extravagant confectionery until the First World War and who had a decisive influence on the village of Mulegns.

The “White Tower” was designed by Prof. Benjamin Dillenburger (Digital Building Technologies research group) and architect Michael Hansmeyer in dialogue with the Nova Fundaziun Origen. The construction of the innovative project is scheduled to start in 2022.
