Positively Redesign your Life to Keep Hope

There is always light to find inside the fear and anxiety. An opportunity to make a change, experiment and learn, find peace, go for a run…

The first day of the ETH lockdown, I started to run. I am not a runner, I even disliked running. As you can see, I don’t even have the right shoes. But I accepted my own challenge: by the end of the lockdown, by the end of the threat of the coronavirus, I will look fitter.

Since the ETH lockdown, I have gone running for 30 minutes every day – and I’ve started to really like it. It makes me feel good. I have created my new routine: the slope I go up and down (oh dear my legs hurt!), the stop at the river where I stretch. At the end of the run, I pick up a stone and hold it in my hand. It helps me to get reconnected with nature and relax. Don’t forget that we are fortunate in our misfortune. It is spring, not the start of autumn…

Always acknowledge every human being you see with a smile, yes, we share a common humanity in this uncertainty. And as humans in this common uncertainty, many of us have the same chance to try something new, finally get really good at something, learn to play an instrument, learn a new language … or go for a run.

What about you? What is your unfinished project? Your unfulfilled dream? The new hobby you never had time for?

Be healthy, Carole

About the author

The thing that keeps me busiest at the moment is: My work, my family, cooking, painting, running, walking.
One short story I recommend: “April in Paris” by Ursula K. Le Guin. This story is hilarious (and she is the best author I know).
And if all else fails, my instant pick-me-up is: Chocolate….
